ThereAfter gives you an editor for your Memorial, keeps it private while you’re here, and shares it with the people you chose when the time comes. You decide what it says, who hears about it and how long it stays online.
The editor
Familiar tools that work like the documents and photo apps you already use. Everything saves as you go.
Any size you like
Drag the corner of a photo, video or block of text to make it exactly as wide as you want. The photo itself grows and shrinks, keeping its shape.
Side by side
Place a photo next to the story behind it, or two or three photos on one row. On a phone they stack neatly, one above the other.
Photo carousels
Gather a set of photos into one carousel that visitors can swipe or click through.
Video
Add videos you recorded, in the same sizes and rows as photos.
Frames and themes
Polaroid, deckle, rounded and oval frames; five page layouts; your own backdrop.
Guestbook
Let visitors leave a few words of their own, if you’d like that.
Undo and preview
Undo any change, and see how your Memorial looks on a phone or a computer.
Private until it’s time
Your Memorial stays private while you work on it. You set the steps that lead to it being shared.
Check-ins on your schedule
We check in by email monthly, every three months or once a year. If you miss one, we send a reminder, and then someone from our team tries to reach you.
People who can confirm
Name the people we can ask, and choose a designated contact for each Memorial.
People to notify
Build the list of people who receive the link when your Memorial is shared.
Unlisted or searchable
Keep it to people with the link, or let anyone find it.
Hosting that lasts
Your Memorial is shared only when hosting is in place. Hosting is paid by the year and starts when your Memorial is first shared, so none of it is used while you’re here.
- Pay ahead. Buy hosting by the year from your account, whenever you’re ready.
- Paying doesn’t share it. Paying for hosting doesn’t publish anything by itself.
- Nothing renews by surprise. Hosting never renews on its own. If you turn on renewal for editing, we email you 30 days before each renewal.

Prices are in US dollars. Any sales tax is worked out at payment. Payments are handled securely by Stripe. Nothing is charged until you choose to pay.
Questions
Who can see my Memorial before it’s shared?
Only you and authorized ThereAfter staff. Nothing is published or sent until it’s time.
What happens if I miss a check-in?
We send a reminder after 7 days. If we still haven’t heard from you, someone from our team tries to reach you and, if needed, your trusted contacts. Your Memorial is never shared because of a missed check-in alone.
Who decides when it’s shared?
We share it only after our team verifies a death, any death-confirmation contact you chose confirms it, hosting is in place, and our team approves the release.
What happens when my year of editing ends?
Your Memorial stays saved and readable to you, and nothing you’ve written is lost. You can start another year of editing whenever you like.
